Jade's Favorite Shiny Pokemon

Jade's Favorite shiny pokemon

In the Pokemon games every pokemon specie has a "shiny" version, where their colors are different from their specie's usual color. They're quite rare -- according to Serebii.net the odds of seeing them are 1 in 8,192. I've been fortunate enough to find several of them, so I'm listing my favorites here.

For my list of tradeable shinies, you should check out my complete list. Info for trading is there, too.

Self-caught shinys: 23   (last updated: July 2017)

Shirley
Female  | nature: bold  |  ability: Oblivious
Caught Illumise at Lv. 49, on Route 229 in Platinum

currently: Illumise at Lv. 49
move set: Helping Hand, Zen Headbutt, Bug Buzz, Covet
EV trained in: *
IV stats: *
Personality: Highly persistent
ribbons: 0

Illumise is my twenty-third shiny caught in the Advanced+ games. Caught in mid-December 2016 during a training session for my Soul Silver nuzlocke run.

Her name is "Shirley" because her hair reminds me of Shirley Temple, I guess. I'm still thinking on it.

Achilles
(fast) Male  | nature: Calm  |  ability: Keen Eye
Caught Pidgey at Lv. 3, on Route 29 in Soul Silver

currently: Pidgeot at Lv. 80
move set: U-turn, FeatherDance, Fly, Quick Attack
EV trained in: Attack and Speed
IV stats: Relatively Superior, with 31 in Attack
Personality: Likes to thrash about
ribbons: 7

Achilles is my twenty-second shiny caught in the Advanced+ games. Caught in late July 2016 during my Soul Silver nuzlocke run.

His name is "Achilles" because of his golden coloring.

Gobblwonkr
Male  | nature: Quirky  |  ability: Intimidate
Caught Gyarados at Lv. 30, at Lake of Rage in Soul Silver

currently: Gyarados at Lv. 80
move set: Ice Fang, Dragon Dance, Waterfall, Thunder
EV trained in: *
IV stats: *
Personality: Often Scatters Things
ribbons: 6

Gobblwonkr is my twenty-first shiny caught in the Advanced+ games. Caught in late March 2016 during my Soul Silver nuzlocke run.

His name is "Gobblwonkr" as in a shortened version of 'Gobblewonker' a mythical beast/robot from the tv show, Gravity Falls. Aside from the aquatic relevance, this beast definitely more than I could handle during my Nuzlocke.

Melody
Female  | nature: Relaxed  |  ability: Telepathy
Hatched Ralts at Lv. 1, at Battle Resort in Alpha Sapphire

currently: Ralts at Lv. 18
move set: Confusion, Draining Kiss, Confuse Ray, Shadow Sneak
EV trained in: Sp. Atk, Speed, Sp. Def
IV stats: Relatively Superior, with 31 in HP, Defense, Sp. Atk, and Speed
Personality: Capable of taking hits
ribbons: 11

Melody is my twentieth shiny caught in the Advanced+ games, and my second hatched shiny. I spent many many weeks hatching Ralts in hopes of getting a shiny, and in May 2016, I did! I'm especially happy because she's got 4 31-IVs, the Hidden Ability Telepathy, and the egg moves Confuse Ray and Shadow Sneak. I can't wait to take her to the Battle Maison!

Her name is "Melody" because I thought it sounded pretty.

Kirlia
Male  | nature: Jolly  |  ability: Synchronize
Recieved Ralts at Lv. 15, from Hoenn

currently: Kirlia at Lv. 20
move set: Confusion, Magical Leaf, Double Team, Growl
EV trained in: Atk, Speed
IV stats: Relatively Superior, with "fantastic" HP
Personality: Likes to Relax
ribbons: 11

Kirlia is a traded shiny I got many years ago, but only recently started training. His original trainer is WOLF. I started training him after I hatched Melody, so I could have a shiny Gardevoir and Gallade. :)

Zoku-oh
Male  | nature: Modest  |  ability: Swift Swim
Hatched Horsea at Lv. 5, in Sapphire

currently: Kingdra at Lv. 100
move set: Dragon Pulse, Ice Beam, Scald, Draco Meteor
EV trained in: Sp. Atk, Speed
IV stats: Relatively Superior, with "fantastic" Speed
Personality: Likes to run
ribbons: 54
() ()

Zoku-oh is one of my oldest and most beloved pokemon, so I wanted him on this page too. I hatched and trained him back in spring 2004 to help me in the Battle Tower of Pokemon Sapphire, and he has been with me ever since. My one regret is that I didn't take him through Pokemon Colosseum so he could get an Earth Ribbon like the others.

Zoku-oh was named after a user of the same name that frequented an oekaki board I went to at the time. He was an inspiring artist to me, I guess, or I thought the name sounded cool. It's been a long time, I don't know. The name means King of Theives in Japanese, and comes from Yu-gi-oh.

Jounouchi
Male  | nature: Jolly  |  ability: Pressure
Hatched Sneasel at Lv. 1, in Hearthome city in Pearl

currently: Weavile at Lv. 100
move set: Ice Punch, Brick Break, Night Slash, Aerial Ace
EV trained in: Attack, Speed
IV stats: Above Average, with "good" Speed
Personality: Likes to run
ribbons: 18
() ()

Jounouchi is one of my favorites, and so I wanted him to be on this page as well. Hatched for a LiveJournal competition in late summer 2007, Jou quickly became one of my best fighters. I rarely tackle a Battle Tower/etc without him.

As for the name, Jounouchi was named after the Yu-gi-oh character. I enjoyed the show/Abridged series at the time, and Jou was my favorite. And also because they're both scrappy with big hair.

Mary-Jane
Female  | nature: Jolly  |  ability: Keen Eye
Hatched Sentret at Lv. 1, in Hearthome city in Platinum

currently: Furret at Lv. 46
move set: Charm, Covet, Assist, Aqua Tail
EV trained in: Attack, Speed, HP
IV stats: 23-11-22-24-25-5
Personality: Strong willed
ribbons: 20
()

Mary-Jane is my nineteenth shiny caught in the Advanced+ games, was hatched in February 2012. She is also my most manipulated pokemon; I used the RNG method to ensure she hatch shiny, and changed the DS date so she would hatch on Valentine's Day to match her heart-themed egg moves and pink coloring. I don't like messing with my games in this way, but I hated the hundreds of hours I lost to shiny hunting. Although this method was much faster (only took one hour), I didn't feel any better about it.

I went through a lot of names at first, like Téa, Rose, etc., but ended up deciding on Mary-Jane because that was the name of my Furret from my favorite run on Pokemon Silver. (I even leveled that team up to 100, which is quite something since I constantly restarted that game.)

"★Bzzt★"
no gender  | nature: Lonely  |  ability: Magnet Pull
Caught Magnemite at Lv. 29, at Fuego Ironworks, Platinum

currently: Magneton at Lv. 55
move set: Magnet Rise, Lock-On, Zap Cannon, Flash Cannon
EV trained in: Sp. Atk, Defense, Speed
IV stats: 1-19-25-10-13-28
Personality: Somewhat of a clown
ribbons: 16
()

★Bzzt★ is my eighteenth shiny caught in the Advanced+ games, caught mid-February '11. I was chaining Magnemite at Fuego Ironworks, and had managed to get all the way up to round 39 --which I've only ever done twice?-- but then a Magmar interrupted, aw. So I start a new chain, and enter the first round normal shaking bush, and who hops out? This shiny dude! XD So sweet. <3

★Bzzt★ had a couple of runner-up names as well, I had trouble finding one I liked. Fortunately or unfortunately, I sent ★Bzzt★ along with the rest of my shinys to the Future (aka Pokemon Bank) before I remembered the name dilemma. Ah well, at least the temp name wasn't "Bob." ...Actually, that would've been cute.

"RAIKOU"
no gender | nature: Rash | ability: Pressure
Received Raikou at Lv. 30, from Pokémon Event

currently: Raikou at Lv. 43
move set: Zap Cannon, Aura Sphere, ExtremeSpeed, Weather Ball
EV trained in: Sp. Attack, Speed, HP
IV stats: 23-24-13-30-12-15
Personality: Highly curious
ribbons: 13
()

Raikou is an event pokemon from a Gamestop giveaway. Part of the Crown collection, for the 13th movie.

"ENTEI"
no gender | nature: Adamant | ability: Pressure
Received Entei at Lv. 35, from Pokémon Event

currently: Entei at Lv. 42
move set: Flare Blitz, Howl, ExtremeSpeed, Crush Claw
EV trained in: Attack, HP, Speed
IV stats: 5-31-8-14-21-30
Personality: Likes to thrash about
ribbons: 13
()

Entei is an event pokemon from a Gamestop giveaway. Part of the Crown collection, for the 13th movie.

"SUICUNE"
no gender | nature: Relaxed | ability: Pressure
Received Suicune at Lv. 30, from Pokémon Event

currently: Suicune at Lv. 44
move set: Sheer Cold, Air Slash, ExtremeSpeed, Aqua Ring
EV trained in: Sp. Attack, HP, Defense
IV stats: 19-22-28-22-15-21
Personality: Good endurance
ribbons: 13
()

Suicune is an event pokemon from a Gamestop giveaway. Part of the Crown collection, for the 13th movie.

"PICHU"
Male  | nature: Jolly  |  ability: Static
Recieved Pichu at Lv. 30, from Pokemon Event

currently: Pichu at Lv. 33
move set: ThunderShock, Volt Tackle, Endeavor, Endure
EV trained in: Attack, Speed, HP
IV stats: 14-27-16-9-4-11
Personality: A little quick tempered
ribbons: 5

Pichu is an event pokemon from a Gamestop giveaway, also known as the Pikachu-Colored Pichu.

"GYARADOS"
Female  | nature: Careful  |  ability: Intimidate
Caught Gyarados at Lv. 30, at Lake of Rage in SoulSilver

currently: Gyarados at Lv. 60
move set: Bite, Ice Fang, Aqua Tail, Dragon Dance
EV trained in: Attack, Speed, Defense
IV stats: 8-30-18-4-14-13
Personality: Proud of its power
ribbons: 9

GYARADOS is my seventeenth shiny caught in the Advanced+ games, and is the infamous Red Gyarados that is in every Johto game. Caught in late March '10... not much else to say. ^^;

GYARADOS does not have a nickname because I couldn't think of one at the time of capture, and haven't really thought of giving her one since. *shrugs* Maybe later.

"Sasuke☂"
Male  | nature: Rash  |  ability: Early Bird
Caught Houndour at Lv. 24, on Route 214 in Platinum

currently: Houndoom at Lv. 100
move set: Dark Pulse, Super Fang, Protect, Flamethrower
EV trained in: Sp. Attack, Speed, Defense
IV stats: 9-21-17-7-24-17
Personality: Somewhat stubborn
ribbons: 36
( ) ()

Sasuke☂ is my sixteenth shiny caught in the Advanced+ games. In mid-February '10, I was chaining Houndour in a ridiculously small patch of grass while waiting for my Ambipoms to find Rare Candies. For every Houndour that miraculously appeared, I mocked "Oh no, it's a shiny! What do I do?" since my team's attacks always KO'ed them in one hit. What a surprise when on the fourth round in the chain, one of the bushes sparkled gold, and inside was a blue Houndour. I threw a Quick Ball, and caught him on the first try. ^^

The name Sasuke☂ comes from my habit of calling all of my Houndooms "Sasuke" from, yes, the Naruto series. I really don't care for Sasuke in the series, but I really like naming my Houndooms after him. xD; It just seems so fitting. The umbrella is to separate him from my other Houndoom, and 'cause he's blue. :3

"Jimmy"
Male  | nature: Impish  |  ability: Intimidate
Caught Shinx at Lv. 3, on Route 202 in Platinum

currently: Shinx at Lv. 3
move set: Tackle
EV trained in: --
IV stats: (?)
Personality: Often lost in thought
ribbons: 9

Jimmy is my fifteenth shiny caught in the Advanced+ games. In mid-May '09 I was wasting time chaining (trying for a Sentret), when I kept a Shinx chain going too long. Around 7 on the chain I went to a normal shaking bush when this glittery guy popped out.

Since I've already caught and trained a Shinx (Rachel), I'm not sure what to do with this little guy. I may just keep him as a Shinx since he's so cute, but now I wish I named him Conan instead. ^_^;

"David◊Cook"
Male  | nature: Naughty  |  ability: Intimidate
Caught Staravia at Lv. 21, at Valor Lakefront in Pearl

currently: Staraptor at Lv. 89
move set: Close Combat, Aerial Ace, Brave Bird, Roost
EV trained in: Attack, Speed, Defense
IV stats: 6-0-20-14-14-18
Personality: Sturdy body
ribbons: 37
()

David◊Cook is my fourteenth shiny caught in the Advanced+ games. In mid-March '09 I was just wasting some time chaining when a bush sparkled on chain #5.

I was listening to a David Cook song while I was chaining, and Staravia sorta-kinda reminds me of him (I think it's the hair), so the nickname was no contest.

"Wiona"
Female  | nature: Calm  |  ability: Unaware
Caught Bibarel at Lv. 17, on Route 209 in Pearl

currently: Bibarel at Lv. 47
move set: Yawn, Hyper Fang, Super Fang, Water Gun
EV trained in: HP, Defense, Attack.
IV stats: 27-5-27-7-9-7
Personality: Often scatters things
ribbons: 13
()

Wiona is my thirteenth shiny caught in the Advanced+ games. I ran into her in late February '09 while leveling up a Pokedex pokemon. Unexpected and unwanted, her original nickname was "NoNotYou!Dx" and stayed that way for quite a while. She slowly began to grow on me though, and her name was eventually changed.

Not nicknamed after the flying-type gym leader, I just like the name Wiona and thought it fit this Bibarel somehow. It can also be a bit of pun, "Why, Onna?" although it makes more sense if you know Japanese. (Onna means woman).

Rejiaisu
no gender | nature: Mild | ability: Clear Body
Received Regice at Lv. 40, from Hoenn

currently: Regice at Lv. 40
move set: Icy Wind, Curse, Superpower,
AncientPower
EV trained in: --
IV stats: 7-31-29-19-1-31
Personality: Likes to thrash about
ribbons: 1

Rejiaisu is probably a hack, but I like it anyway. Even though I have a deep hatred/fear of Regice because of the damn Emerald Battle Tower where they always defeat me. ;>> Its name reads "Rejiaisu."

"QULBUTOKE"
Male  | nature: Quirky  |  ability: Shadow Tag
Received Wobbuffet at Lv. 1, hatched in Jubilife City

currently: Wobbuffet at Lv. 1
move set: Mirror Coat, Counter, Safeguard,
Destiny Bond
EV trained in: --
IV stats: 31-1-15-19-31-25
Personality: Somewhat vain
ribbons: 0

"Qulbutoke" is the French name for Wobbuffet, and I got him off the GTS. =D

"Sun*set"
Female  | nature: Sassy  |  ability: Technician
Caught Aipom at Lv. 6, on Route 205 in Pearl

currently: Ambipom at Lv. 92
move set: Double Hit, Power-up Punch, Aerial Ace, Payback
EV trained in: Attack, Speed, HP
IV stats: 1-25-4-15-1-25
Personality: Proud of its Power
ribbons: 24
()

Sun*set is my twelfth shiny caught in the Advanced+ games. I caught her near the end of March '08 on a honey tree past sunset, after spending almost the whole day resetting before said honey tree. I can't believe I actually caught a shiny this way! =0 =D While I have nice luck in randomly finding shinys in the wild, my luck in resetting/fishing/hatching eggs for shinys is terrible. Aaaaa, I'm so happy this worked! And this particular Aipom is super awesome too. <3<3<3

The name Sun*set is pretty simple -- Her fur color is sunset-like, and I caught her while the in-battle field was still in sunset/twilight mode. ^^ Earlier on I was thinking about how cool it would be if I caught a shiny Aipom while it was still sunset, and it happened! So I had to nickname her for it. XD;

"JIRACHI"
no gender | nature: Timid | ability: Serene Grace
Received Jirachi at Lv. 5, from a Faraway place

currently: Jirachi at Lv. 72
move set: Meteor Mash, Zen Headbutt, Wish,
Comet Punch
EV trained in: Attack, Speed, HP
IV stats: 31-31-31-31-31-31
Personality: Alert to sounds
ribbons: 15

I got this Jirachi from a special "event" giveaway at PokeWifi on LiveJournal. Yes, it's hacked, but I love it so! All it's little star-themed attacks, it's just so cute. -^_^-

Unfortunately, it is now trapped in Pokemon White, because it cannot make the trip through the Poké Transfer. I... still get sad thinking about this. If I had known this would happen, I would've kept her in Platinum.

Otachi
Male  | nature: Impish  |  ability: Keen Eye
Received Sentret at Lv. 4, from Route 202

currently: Sentret at Lv. 42
move set: Rest, Slam, Quick Attack, Me First
EV trained in: Attack, HP, Speed
IV stats: 22-18-10-16-16-12
Personality: Scatters things often
ribbons: 15
()

I got Otachi off the GTS! =D His name reads "Otachi", which is Sentret's Japanese name. I'm not sure if I will evolve him; Although I would like a shiny Furret, I want him to keep his Japanese name.

"Red-River"
Female  | nature: Calm  |  ability: Pressure
Caught Absol at Lv. 20, on Route 213 in Pearl

currently: Absol at Lv. 100
move set: Me First, X-Scissor, Night Slash,
Psycho Cut
EV trained in: Attack, Speed, HP
IV stats: 26-13-20-3-16-29
Personality: Quick to flee
ribbons: 20
() ()

Red-River is my eleventh shiny caught in the Advanced+ games. I caught her on Thanksgiving night '07 by PokeRadar chaining. She was 7th on the chain. ^^ Absol were swarming that day, and I've been wanting to catch my own shiny Absol for a long time now. Hurray, I finally caught one! xD

The name Red-River is from a song title on the Spider-Man 3 movie soundtrack. I had liked how it sounded, and thought it would be a nice name for a shiny Absol. :)

"Rachael"
Female  | nature: Calm  |  ability: Rivalry
Caught Shinx at Lv. 4, on Route 202 in Pearl

currently: Luxray at Lv. 86
move set: Discharge, Wild Charge, Charge, Crunch
EV trained in: Attack, Speed, Special Defense
IV stats: 0-22-25-25-0-25
Personality: Sturdy body
ribbons: 35
()

Rachael is my tenth shiny caught in the Advanced+ games. I was EV training a newly hatched pokemon in early July '07, and then there it was. I wasn't happy with the catch at first, so Rachael sat in the PC as a Shinx for almost a year before I finally decided to train her. I'm glad I finally did; she's a good pokemon.

The name Rachael is from the dub name of a character in the manga/anime series Detective Conan, who -- ironically for my pokemon -- is a strong girl who unfortunately is always waiting around for someone. Sorry, Rach.

"Tobi"
Male  | nature: Bold  |  ability: Static
Caught Mareep at Lv. 8, at Valley Windworks in Pearl

currently: Ampharos at Lv. 100
move set: Power Gem, Signal Beam, Thunderbolt,
Hidden Power (Grass!)
EV trained in: Special Attack, HP, Defense
IV stats: 12-11-10-22-2-2
Personality: Thoroughly cunning
ribbons: 33
() ()

Tobi is my ninth shiny caught in the Advanced+ games. I caught him in early June 2007 by PokeRadar chaining. He was the 5th on the chain. ^^ I was looking for a shiny Mareep because someone I knew wanted one. I was able to clone this Mareep, so now we're all happy. ^-^

Although it took a long while for me to decide on a name, I finally went with "Tobi". He's named after the Akatsuki member from the Naruto series -- I like the name and I thought shiny Ampharos would look really cute with Tobi's signature face mask. ^^

"AZELF"
no gender  | nature: Modest  | ability: Levitate
Received at Lv. 50, from Valor Cavern

currently: Azelf at Lv. 50
move set: Confusion, Uproar, Future Sight,
Nasty Plot
EV trained in: --
IV stats: 18-30-22-28-18-26
Personality: Proud of its power
ribbons: 1

OT swore she restarted constantly to get it shiny. True or not, it's still very pretty.

"LUGIA"
no gender  |  nature: Impish | ability: Pressure
Received at Lv. 71, from Hoenn

currently: Lugia at Lv. 71
move set: Recover, Hydro Pump, Rain Dance, Swift
EV trained in: ?
IV stats: (?)
Personality: Capable of taking hits
ribbons: 1

Supposedly caught in Emerald; the OT swore he restarted constantly to get it shiny. True or not, it's still pretty sweet.

"M'sieur"
Male  |  nature: Lonely  |  ability: Swarm
Caught Kricketune at Lv. 18 on Route 212 in Pearl

currently: Kricketune at Lv. 72
move set: X-Scissor, Brick Break, Aerial Ace, Sing
EV trained in: Attack, HP, Defense
IV stats: 15-9-13-31-5-7
Personality: Mischievous
ribbons: 35
()

M'sieur is my eighth shiny caught in the Advanced+ games, and was found in early May '07. I was testing out my new legendary pokemon west of Pastoria City, and then there he was. ^^; I really wasn't expecting to see another shiny in my game so soon after catching GekkoState/Wingull, but hey! I'm not complaining. ^_^

The name M'sieur (mih-zyour) is French, and means Mister. I was torn on a couple of different names for a while, like "Chicago" and "Croissant", but I think I've settled on this one. His sprite is so cute, it's kinda like he's saying, 'Wait, m'sieur! I have your order!" (as if he was a waiter in a restaurant) .... I totally want to draw that now. ^^;

"Slugma"
Male  |  nature: Careful  |  ability: Flame Body
Received Slugma at Lv. 23, from Hoenn

currently: Slugma at Lv. 25
move set: Ember, Rock Throw, Yawn, Smog
EV trained in: ?
IV stats: 22-4-22-16-13-18 (?)
Personality: Capable of taking hits
ribbons: 0

Slugma was my first traded shiny. I got him from a friend in exchange for a clone of my shiny Zigzagoon. I don't plan on evolving Slugma, and now I can hatch eggs in style. ^^

"GekkoState"
Male  |  nature: Docile  |  ability: Keen Eye
Caught Wingull at Lv. 20 on Route 213 in Pearl

currently: Wingull at Lv. 73
move set: Air Slash, Scald, Roost, Quick Attack
EV trained in: Special Attack, Speed, HP
IV stats: 3-16-21-24-22-17
Personality: Very finicky
ribbons: 30
()

GekkoState is my seventh shiny for the Advanced+ games, and I found him near the end of April '07, while lost east of Pastoria City. Although I had been hoping I'd find a shiny since I started Pearl, I found it when I wasn't expecting it. XD

The name GekkoState (gecko-state) is the name of Holland's flying ship in the manga/anime Eureka Seven. The ship is kinda dragon-shaped like, but it is silver/white and green, like the shiny Wingull. AND, for added coincidence, they both share a connection to the number Seven. Yay! ^^

"Teol"
Male  |  nature: Modest  |  ability: Clear Body
Caught Tentacool at Lv. 13 on Route 127 in Emerald

currently: Tentacruel at Lv. 100
move set: Sludge Bomb, Scald, Ice Beam, Giga Drain
EV trained in: Special Attack, Special Defense, Defense & Speed
IV stats: 10-31-27-31-24-0
Personality: Likes to thrash about
ribbons: 42
() ()

Teol was my sixth shiny in the Advanced generation games, and I found him in early March '07 while exploring the sea route below Mossdeep City. It had been 2 & 1/2 years since my last shiny encounter, so I was completely awestruck when I saw him. ^^

The name Teol (tei-ol) is a spin on teal, and a sorta homage to Teo. He's a character from Avatar: The Last Airbender and really has nothing in common with this pokemon, I just like his name. ^^;

"Aska"
Female |  nature: Modest |  ability: Keen Eye
Caught Spearow at Lv. 16 on Route 10 in FireRed

currently: Fearow at Lv. 86
move set: Drill Peck, Roost, Protect, Mirror Move
EV trained in: Attack, Speed, HP
IV stats: 0-21-2-20-22-13
Personality: Hates to lose
ribbons: 40
()

Aska was my fifth shiny in the Advanced generation games, and I found her while training in the grassy area above the Rock Tunnel entrance. I was really happy to see her, since it had been many many months since my last shiny capture and I was afraid all my shiny-finding luck had been used up. ^^'

The name Aska (Ah-s-ka) is the name of the summon spirit of light from Tales of Symphonia & Tales of Phantasia, and is a giant golden bird. Although in the games Aska is male, the name was too good to pass up.

"Baloo"
Male   |  nature: Hardy   |  ability: Pickup
Caught Zigzagoon at Lv. 4 on Route 104 in Sapphire

currently: Zigzagoon at Lv. 72
move set: Headbutt, Thunderbolt, Covet, Surf
EV trained in: Speed, Attack, HP
IV stats: 29-27-17-15-22-6
Personality: Likes to relax
ribbons: 29
()

Baloo was my fourth shiny in the Advanced generation games, and I found him three days after my third shiny, Poppeto. I guess I took a break from Mt. Pyre to look for a shiny Tailow, and found Baloo instead. ^^ I really like Zigzagoon because they're so cute, so I doubt I'll evolve him into Linoone.

The name Baloo (Bah-loo) is just a cute name that popped into my head after I caught him. Even though they're not based on bears, Zigzagoon does kinda remind me of the bear from The Jungle Book. I guess that must be where the name came from. ^^;

"Poppeto"
Female  |  nature: Timid  |  ability: Pure Power
Caught Meditite at Lv. 27 on Mt. Pyre in Sapphire

currently: Medicham at Lv. 92
move set: Hi Jump Kick, Ice Punch, ThunderPunch, Recover
EV trained in: Attack, Speed, Special Attack
IV stats: 23-0-16-31-20-1
Personality: Mischievous
ribbons: 40
()

Poppeto was my third shiny in the Advanced generation games, and I found her while looking for a shiny Vulpix on Mt. Pyre. I wasn't a fan of Meditite/Medicham before this event, but training Poppeto certainly helped brighten my view of them.

The name Poppeto (poh-peh-toe) has no personal meaning; it was just something that popped into my head after I caught Meditite. ^^;

"Hapuna"
Male   |  nature: Timid   |  ability: Water Veil
Caught Wailmer at Lv. 32 in Ever Grande City in Sapphire

currently: Wailord at Lv. 82
move set: Water Spout, Ice Beam, Hydro Pump, Amnesia
EV trained in: HP, Special Attack, Speed
IV stats: 27-11-5-7-16-12
Personality: Often dozes off
ribbons: 51
()

Hapuna was my second shiny in the Advanced generation games, and I found him while stealing heart scales from Luvdisc. I think it was during Summer 2004, because I had just bought Tales of Symphonia. I think it was also a few months after I found my first shiny, Helion.

The name Hapuna (Ha-poo-nah) is the name of a beach resort on the Big Island of Hawaii. I don't know why, but the purple Wailmer reminds me of it, even though I can't remember ever going there. ^^;

"Helion"
Female   |  nature: Relaxed   |  ability: Intimidate
Caught Poochyena at Lv. 2 on Route 103 in Sapphire

currently: Mightyena at Lv. 87
move set: Crunch, Incinerate, Retaliate, Dig
EV trained in: Attack, Speed, Defense
IV stats: 30-0-29-11-11-3
Personality: Loves to eat

Helion was my first shiny in the Advanced generation games, and I found her 200+ hours into my Sapphire game, which was in spring 2004. I was EV training my Zubat in the grassy area above Oldale Town, and I couldn't believe it when she sparkled onto the screen. xD

The name Helion (hell-lee-on) is my deviation from "Heliodor", which means 'gift of the sun' and is also the name of the golden beryl gem. I didn't go with Heliodor because I thought it sounded too masculine to be a female name.

Seen But Not Caught

Clefairy  | seen @ Veilstone City Game Corner (Pearl)
While playing the slots I got a bonus mode, but the Clefairy that popped out was shiny! And it had the Clefairy-like face too, not the silly Ditto-like one!

Seviper  |  female?  | seen @ Battle Tower (Sapphire)
Triathlete Mitch had it on round 21. I didn't even know you could see shiny pokemon in the Battle Tower. ^^;

Old Shinys - Pokemon Silver

shiny Girafarig shiny Unown Many years ago during one of my play-throughs in Silver, I caught a shiny Girafarig (left) on route 43, and a shiny Unown (right) in the Ruins of Alph. I don't remember much else about them, I didn't really use them. I later deleted that game to start a new one, so they were deleted with it.

And of course there was the shiny Gyarados, but everyone could catch him since he was a part of the game's plot.
