Short Version:
Usually noted but often neglected, it was about time someone stood up for the fairies. Because let's face it: No one could get through the games without using their help. The fairies are always there to heal Link or give him cool stuff, but for most people, once you leave their fountains you don't give 'em a second thought. Fairies deserve better! So this site gives them the recognition they richly deserve.
Long Version:
Surprisingly enough, not everyone despises the little blue fairy from Ocarina of Time. I personally found her quite helpful and fun to have around. And no, I wasn't drunk while I played the game.
I for one do not get annoyed easily. So where Navi's "nagging" about the next quest irked others, I saw it as her way of showing how concerned she was about Hyrule. I mean, when Link and Navi left on their big adventure, the Great Deku Tree, Kokiri Forest's guardian and mentor, had died. Even in that secluded and protected area evil had clawed its way in and took out their most cherished member. The horror that stalked the rest of Hyrule was no doubt on Navi's mind and so it's no wonder why she wanted Link to continue on fighting.
I understand that many people found her constant reminders and calling voice annoying, but honestly I think they are over-exaggerating. She doesn't call on you every 5 seconds like most people say, but every 20-30 minutes. So if you're fishing or cruising through some shops, just listen when she speaks up and continue on your way. And if her voice bothers you that much, just turn the volume down.
As for why I made this shine dedicated to Navi, I was tired of hearing everyone gripe about her. Also I've always been interested in the fairies since I picked up my first Zelda game (Link's Awakening) because of their cool, graceful, and mysterious ways. So I decided that I would make a shrine for them and hopefully give sanctuary to other fans. I suppose I should have started this project a few years ago when the fairy debates were still high, but I didn't have enough free time back then for such an undertaking. Besides, now is as good as ever.

I began making this shrine in June '03, but didn't get it online until Feb 26, '04. Because I am insanely lazy. Well, was anyway. I'm doing better now. :D
